Women’s Return to Work after Maternity Leave

The return to work after maternity leave is a transition that most women are faced with at least once during their lives. Therefore, re-entry represents a central developmental task. We investigate attitudinal, motivational and contextual predictors of a successful re-entry, and consider different success criteria, such as the social re-integration into the workplace, general well-being and the satisfaction concerning the return decision. We use longitudinal as well as diary data collected in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. We gratefully acknowledge the support that we have received for our research on parental leaves by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
