Psychology with a Focus on Auditory Cognition: Sabine Schlittmeier (until Novembre 2020)
Cognitive performance and subjective well-being are affected by the acoustic environment. The auditory input can be relevant for the task at hand, such as the statements of a conversation partner or operating sounds of working equipment. Yet the auditory input can also be irrelevant, e.g., when doing silent concentrated work in open-plan offices while colleagues are talking in the background. For each of these exemplary situations, our research focuses on the question, which characteristics of the sounds and hearing conditions are decisive for cognitive performance, subjective perception and sound evaluation.
