Emotion Regulation and Dealing with Failure

Challenging situations at the workplace provide the opportunity to experience success but also bears the risk to suffer from failure. For example, a job interview may lead to an offer or a rejection. The commencement of a new job may lead to feelings of pride and pleasant anticipation but the organizational newcomer may also experience a lack of necessary skills and knowledge. To explore ways of dealing with threatening situations at the workplace (e.g. to provide as well as receive negative feedback), we conduct experimental studies both in the laboratory and the field using a multimethod approach (e.g., surveys, behavior observations, peripheral physiological and endocrinological measures).
